Against a backdrop of mountains, forests, sacred lakes and holy ruins, you will discover Shiluvari Lakeside Lodge. Nestling amongst centuries old wild fig trees with sweeping views of the Soutpansberg Mountains, Shiluvari is the ideal base to explore the diverse natural and cultural heritage of this land of Legend. Shiluvari is furthermore a proud Fair Trade in Tourism member (www.fairtourismsa.org.za).

Shiluvari is set in 60 hectares of natural vegetation and offers you the opportunity to walk through the estate where you may see some of the game species that frequent the area. Waterbuck, Kudu, Bushbuck and Duiker are often seen grazing and browsing in the lodge grounds.

Accommodation-Chalets

The accommodation consists of 6 charming thatched chalets situated apart from the main Lodge, all of which enjoy view of the dam. All the chalets have en-suite bathrooms, attached lounge and kitchenette area, overhead fans, mosquito nets and a private veranda with a braai area.

The chalets, set on the banks of the dam, offer you secluded and private intimacy – each one uniquely decorated with a different theme and set apart form the rest. All of our chalets incorporate elements from the local artists and crafters.

Accommodation-Rooms

There are also 6 standard rooms overlooking the water inlet on the other side of the dam, with en-suite bathrooms, mosquito nets and a separate entrance which leads out onto the bushveld and the water inlet on the other side.

In keeping with the idea of escaping city life, one will not find a television or phones in the room, however, both these services are available in the main Lodge, in addition to fax and email.

Restaurant

Shiluvari’s onsite restaurant, well known for its delicious “afro-fusion” cuisine, is open for breakfast and dinner daily. The simplistic approach is evident in utilization of fresh local ingredients, beautiful presentation and a fine balance of African flavour and European sophistication. Amongst the most popular dishes, you will find sweet potato and avocado soup, seared beef fillet crusted with African spices and butternut chips, mango ice cream, and chocolate and chili sauce… Tempting ? Breakfasts sound as delicious and light lunches are also provided.
